Beautiful photo and family. I can only imagine what you experienced growing up without her. But it is wonderful that she had siblings and that you have this captured.

I was looking for B & W photos and came across this. It is wonderful that the photo was taken. I feel it may have been unusual in the 1950’s to have a photo like this taken. It looks to me like it was professionally done.

Not sure it was unusual. I have lots of photos of my parents from the ’40s and ’50s. Beautiful picture, though. My parents were married in the ’50s. It looks like some of their wedding photos! 😀

LOL! Thinking about how similar the clothes are to what my family was wearing then! Where were they, treehouse? My family were in NYC.

Michigan. Almost all of her family lived on the same dirt road.

Don’t you think that’s interesting? That my family in Brooklyn, NY would look exactly like yours n Michigan at the same time?? We seem to think that social media has made us see our similarities in ways not know before, but I think not. Thanks!!

It really is interesting. I almost feel there would be a greater difference in clothing between NYC and rural Michigan now. I live in western NY by the way. Tree 🙂

Beautiful photo, beautiful mother. And I can see now what you said about the tailoring — so well dressed.

Thank you Servetus, It’s a little confusing as I have two mother’s. My mother in the picture above and my step-mother who died in 2009. My father remarried when I was about 2 1/2 years old. It was my step mother that was a tailor and whose beautiful suits I have. She also remarried after my father died (I was 20.) So all of my adult life my “parents” were both step parents.

Aha, I apologize for mixing them up. Well, your mother is also very well dressed 🙂 That’s a lot of complication to navigate.

No need to apologize. I have been explaining it my whole life 🙂
My stepfather is moving across country in March so I’ll be losing him too. We’ve had another time of going through things that were from my Mom that my step dad can’t take with him.
